Updates

  • The Weekend Catch-up Notes

    8:36 a.m.

Good Saturday morning, I will be posting news briefs throughout the weekend as I catch up on my inbox from the week that is ended.

The news notes feature serves two primary purposes:

    1. It enables me to share news briefs with you, the audience, in a quick easy-to-read format; and
    2. It serves as an easy reference point for me to use the future when I need to link to background in stories.
  • Ward 12 Councillor Craig Cassar’s Monthly Newsletter

    2:26 p.m.

Ward 12 Councillor Craig Cassar (and his staff) publish a monthly newsletter. The July 2026 edition was issued yesterday.

Two items I take note of:

    • Cassar will vote against the Elfrida expansion area secondary plan that will be in front of Council on August 25; and
    • There is a lengthy explanation regarding why Cassar opposed Councillor Nrinder Nann’s interim-control bylaw to block data centres.
  • HCA Acquires >200 Acres of Provincially Significant Natural Lands

    4:07 p.m.

On Thursday, the Hamilton Conservation Authority announced, “the acquisition of more than 200 acres of environmentally significant land near Valens Lake and Fletcher Creek Conservation Areas.”

“The purchase is HCA’s largest land acquisition within its watershed in more than a decade,” the release states.
