Christie Lake Beach Reopened
The Hamilton Conservation Authority has reopened Christie Lake Beach. The beach had been closed session Friday due to the presence of blue-green algae. The notice of closure was removed from the HCA website earlier this morning.
Pier 4 Beach Closed Due to Blue-Green Algae
Hamilton’s Pier 4 Park beach is closed again this summer due to blue-green algae. The City of Hamilton issued the closure notification this afternoon.
Flood Watches and Advisories Issued for Hamilton and Niagara Watersheds
The Hamilton Conservation Authority and the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority have each issued flood status changes this evening in preparation for forecasted thunderstorms in the region that are expected to arrive late on Monday and continue into Tuesday.
Environment Canada’s forecast states the severe thunderstorms could be capable of producing torrential rainfall of between 50 to 75 millimetres.
Hamilton Conservation Authority: Flood Watch (Orange Level)
The HCA has issued a Flood Watch for its watershed.
“Significant watercourse flooding has potential to occur.
In addition, significant water safety concerns, as well as localized watercourse flooding of low-lying areas that typically flood during higher water levels, are expected to occur.”

Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority: Flood Outlook (Yellow Level)
The NPCA is monitoring conditions and issued a Flood Outlook statement on Monday afternoon.
“The NPCA does not anticipate major flooding along larger watercourses, flash flooding in urbanized and low-lying areas is likely to occur. Overland surface runoff may also occur in flat, poorly drained rural areas – typically within floodplains – during intense rain events when culverts and ditches become overwhelmed and force water to spread outside of defined channels.”

New Hamilton Municipal Election Candidates for July 27, 2026
The City of Hamilton added two more candidates to the City’s online list today:
In Ward 4, Rob Douglas is running for City Council. Douglas is the first candidate seeking the seat who lives in Ward 4.
In Ward 10, Nicole Trombetta is running for City Council. This is an open seat following Friday’s announcement that incumbent Jeff Beattie is now the Ontario Progressive Conservative candidate in the pending Hamilton East-Stoney Creek provincial by-election.
