The City of Hamilton is in receipt of the Phase I Site Plan Application for the redevelopment of Eastgate Square. I filed a public records request this morning to receive the documents.
The site plan submission is a key milestone for the conversion of the ~18.2 hectares (45-acre) East Hamilton shopping centre located on the northwest corner of Queenston Road and Centennial Parkway North. The redevelopment plan approved by City Council in December 2024 permits 19 mixed-use residential towers ranging from 16 to 20 storeys with approximately 4,325 residential units.
The Phase I application is to construct the first three towers. Phase I originally proposed three 20-storey towers (75.75 metres in height) atop a shared five-storey podium. Hamilton’s Design Review Panel reviewed this version in March 2026, and gave it a favourable assessment.
The revised site plan application, submitted to the City of Hamilton in mid-May, amends the planned height to three 14-storey towers atop a six-storey podium. There will be 696 residential units. 786 parking spaces are planned within four levels of underground parking.
My pending news story will try to answer why Harrison Equity Partners (operating as Hammer GP LP and Hammer GP Services Corp) decided to lower the height.
These towers will be constructed on the southeast corner of the property (on the northwest corner of Queenston Road and Centennial Parkway North.)
I will provide further information upon receipt of the files, and my review of the application.
