TPR welcomes reader comments. The comment section exists for a purpose: open, good-faith discussion of Hamilton’s civic affairs. TPR welcomes views from across the political spectrum, including disagreement aired honestly and in good faith. That includes criticism of the coverage published here.

Civil
Argue the point, not the person. Disagree as sharply as you like with an idea, a policy, or a decision — but do not insult, belittle, or harass other. No name-calling, no slurs, no personal attacks. Be passionate and be respectful.
No Accusations
Do not accuse named individuals of crimes, corruption, or personal wrongdoing that you cannot substantiate. Unproven allegations against real people are defamatory, they expose both you and this publication to legal risk, and they will be removed.
Obey the Law
Comments must comply with the laws of the Province of Ontario and of Canada. That means no defamation or libel, no hate speech, no threats or incitement, no harassment, and nothing that promotes unlawful activity. It also means respecting court orders — do not post anything that would breach a publication ban or identify someone the law protects from identification. Unlawful comments will be removed.

Conservative, progressive, and everything in between are welcome here, provided the argument is made in good faith. Moderation is for conduct, not for opinion.
