2022 Mayoral runner-up Keanin Loomis attended today’s official opening of Magnolia Hall (the former St. Mark’s Church) as a parent.

Most people in the room did not know one of his children was among the performers at the opening.

That’s the story.

A few people noted Loomis’ presence, wondering if it indicates he is beginning to attend more public events and if he plans to run for Mayor in 2026.

Because I knew Loomis was there as a parent, I refrained from asking questions or discussing politics.

Loomis is currently the President and CEO of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction—a demanding role in the current atmosphere of tariffs and uncertainty.

Since his close loss in 2022, Loomis has remained active in community roles.

In a testament to his character, he attended the inauguration of Mayor Andrea Horwath.

And yes, next time I see Loomis at a professional event, I will be asking him about 2026.
