Hamilton planning staff state the City’s long-awaited Major Transit Station Areas zoning will go to Council Planning Committee in May.

The MTSA zoning report will include the final boundaries for MTSA, which can be up to 800 metres surrounding GO Train stations and light rail transit stops.

Once approved by Council, the MTSA zoning amendments must be approved by Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

The Minister will review the MTSA proposal and provide comments.

At the same time that the Minister is reviewing the MTSA zoning, the City will initiate a new round of public consultation.

After the Minister’s review and the public consultation, the final Official Plan Amendment will be presented to the Council for endorsement.

The Minister will have final approval after Council.

The City of Hamilton hopes the new zoning will be implemented in early 2026.

  1. where at queen could this possibly go Joey? South east corner, no, south west corner is a promised development, north west corner is a strip mall, and north east corner is a business…will it possibly be north east side down Main street?
