John-Paul Danko is officially the Liberal candidate in Hamilton West – Ancaster – Dundas. The party announced his appointment on Sunday evening, hours after the election began.
Danko rejoined the Liberal Party to seek the appointment.
He cancelled his membership on June 2, 2022, saying it is “better for municipal councillors to not officially be affiliated with political parties.”
He joined the Liberal party in the lead-up to the 2021 federal election. He stated he joined while considering seeking a nomination.
As a City Councillor, he advocated for the Council to endorse many of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s policies, including moving a motion to endorse Bill C-18, the Online News Act, the National Housing Strategy, the Housing Accelerator Fund, and other bills.
There were a few publicly declared candidate for the nomination, Kevin Whyte, Liberal staffers Salman Abbas, and Victoria Galea.
Election Day is April 28. Advance polls will be open April 18-21.

suppose the question may remain is JP a true conservative at heart? Or most likely a far right liberal / small ‘C’ conservative. At any rate, while he does shoot his mouth off, he’s a smart dude nonetheless. Hey JP, just watch out with that mouth of yours though, Filomena found about with Justin airing her voice about her personal views on abortion and Justin silenced her quickly on that one and told her to tow the party line asap. I’m sure Mark Carney will be keeping a close eye on you as well.

John Danko,
I would like to wish you a victory But I know that the West Mountain has always been overlooked for any support from any government. No candidates have come here and introduced themselves or held a meeting that I know of. We should never have been combined with the affulent areas of Dundas and Ancaster. We are a community of smaller homes, a lot of Town houses, long term care facilities and apartments with seniors and single renters.
We need a representative who cares and will offer us some sense of being part of the bigger picture.
I am a frustrated senior who is constantly looking for any sign of change in our area from City Counsel/Provincial and Federal.
Constituency offices have always been in Dundas.
Pleas make yourself known in this area. Come and knock on doors and visit the apartment lobbies or mall for a meet and greet.
Advertise and make it easy for residences to attend. Get the word out. We do not need another Conservative Government running for the rich and no NDP will ever get the top job.
Get out there, sway the voters to believe and make Hamilton count!!!!
I do not know how much I can do to help but at 85 I will do anything I can. At least add my name as a voting Liberal
Thankyou, Barbara Brearley
