Hamilton City Council was expected to respond to the recent announcement that the Province of Ontario is closing supervised consumption sites no later than March 31, 2025.

However, Council’s Public Health Committee meeting for next Tuesday, September 5, 2024, is cancelled.

The meeting was scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.

Nine of the 16 members of Council are needed to meet quorum. Hamilton City Council has struggled to make quorum in recent months.

Most meeting cancellations result from insufficient councillors confirming they will attend the meeting.

Hamilton City Council meetings are “hybrid,” with councillors permitted to join by video conferencing.

The next scheduled Public Health Committee meeting is Monday, September 30, 2024.

  1. I want a job where I do nothing so I can continue doing nothing. Hopefully the ward 3 councillor will spend her time demolishing the crumbling building at king and emerald.( it’s only been 2 years) The NDP should excommunicate her, she could care less about community. I will not vote for them while she is under their banner.

Signed .. some who hosted jack layton for dinner at a pink squat in 1986 (he drank all our swish)

  2. As important as this issue is, I’m also concerned about what plans are being made to cover the latest COVID variant that is circulating.
It’s my understanding that the feds are looking at it, yet we’ve heard nothing from our PH.
