Barton Street.
Those two words together are likely all the explanation I need to provide for you to understand how I strained my ankle this weekend.
Thankfully, as strains go, this is a minor one that I hope will be on the lower-end of the average one-to-two week initial recovery period.
Here’s how it will impact my usual coverage.
For this week, until July 27, I will not be providing on-scene coverage of what is commonly known as “breaking news” (a term I do not use, I prefer spot news. Tomatoe, Tomato).
Thankfully, this is an off week at City Hall and there are only a handful of meetings to cover. I will continue providing in-person coverage, however, I will only be travelling with my light Chromebook laptop and one DSLR camera.
My focus is to ensure that I rest significantly for my ankle to properly recover before I begin The 155 Podcast interviews with municipal candidates across Hamilton.
For fun, I may ask candidates if they’ll commit to filling the pothole that defeated my ankle. (half-joking)
This will have no other impacts on my coverage.

3 commentsMaybe we can get all TPR readers to submit a pothole report at the same time to get it filled quicker! Crosswalk potholes suck, glad you’re letting it rest as much as you can.
This gave me a smile.
It was a typical Barton Street pothole. I caught the edge of it, the asphalt collapsed and my foot went with it.
Sorry to hear you’re hurt, heal up soon!
(The candidates probably won’t need to fill that hole, given the city is resurfacing Barton from Victoria to Kenilworth through August)
