Advance voter turnout in the Ward 8 Hamilton City Council by-election exceeded the total advance ballots cast during the 2022 municipal election.

City Clerk Matthew Trennum states 2,320 ballots were cast ahead of tomorrow’s September 22 election day.

During the 2022 regular municipal election, 1,796 valid ballots were cast in advance polls.

There are 27,727 registered voters in Ward 8. The advance turnout represents approximately 8.4 per cent of eligible voters.

Advance polls were open on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the five ward-wide voting locations, with a special community poll at St. Elizabeth Village held on Saturday.

Polls will be open on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and closing at 8:00 p.m.

There will be five polling locations. Ward 8 residents can vote at any of the locations.

  • (Sept. 20, 21) Westmount Recreation Centre – 590
  • (Sept. 20, 21) Dave Andreychuk Arena – 282
  • (Sept. 20, 21) Mohawk College – 76
