The Public Works Committee will meet for the first time since last week’s dismissal of the now-former Public Works General Manager Carlyle Khan.
The meeting agenda is light, and the City Manager’s firing decision is not included among the items.
The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. inside Council Chambers. It will be livestreamed on YouTube.
Agenda items of note:
- 2024 year-end report on community use at the stadium;
- Water metre contract extension;
- Decreasing frequency of DARTS reports to Council; and
- Ward councillor motions to improve intersections, streets and parks.
Stadium Usage: The community’s use of Hamilton’s civic stadium increased by 20 percent in 2024 compared to 2023. There were 1,100 hours of community (non-professional league) use of the stadium field and 448 hours of community bookings for rooms and indoor space.

Water Meter Contract Extension: City staff are requesting to issue a non-competitive contract extension to Neptune Technology Group Canada Co. for the supply, repair, replacement, Delivery, Installation, and Maintenance of New and Existing Water Meters. The existing contract is set to expire on October 31, 2025. The extension proposed is until January 31, 2025.
