In an unexpected move, the HDLC is not endorsing Hamilton Mountain NDP candidate Monique Taylor.

The HDLC did not provide a reason.

The surprising decision is a change from the past, and there is plenty of speculation about the HDLC’s reasoning.

I think one factor is worth noting: USW Local 1005 (the Steelworkers) are endorsing its past president Rolf Gerstenberger, who is running for the Marxist-Leninist Party in Hamilton Mountain.

The Labour Council seeks consensus when making endorsements.

The HDLC is endorsing the NDP candidates in Hamilton Centre, Hamilton West – Ancaster – Dundas, Flamborough – Glanbrook – Brant North, and Haldimand-Norfolk.

The HDLC did not endorse Hamilton East—Stoney Creek NDP candidate Nayla Mithani. Mithani is a project manager for NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, and is barely mounting a campaign.

  1. Canada has been heading in the wrong direction for years under the Liberal/NDP coalition. I couldn’t vote for either one of them. CPC is the only option.
