Yesterday, the Ontario Land Tribunal issued notice that it will hold a one-day settlement hearing on March 31 to approve the deal between Hamilton City Council and Medallion Developments.

Hamilton City Council voted 10-5 on March 5 to settle, avoiding what was expected to be an embarrassing hearing for the City.

In June 2024, Hamilton City Council voted 8-8 to oppose the development of the partially vacant 1.45-hectare commercial plaza site at 399 Greenhill Avenue in East Hamilton. In the weeks that followed, the vote was nationally ridiculed by the federal Conservative shadow critic for housing, MP Scott Aitchison.

The settlement agreement is not yet public.

Update: The OLT says the settlement will be released on April 1, the day following the hearing.

  1. Too bad. I was hoping the project would be voted down. We need a grocery store badly.
