The Library Board receives 2014 audited financial reports, the new facilites masterplan, bike lending for kids, updates to the Library’s Code of Conduct, and discusses the future of the Greensville Branch.

h4>Bike Lending Library
The Board will review a proposal from the Canadian Tire Jump Start Program – with maintenance and insurance costs covered by Start the Cycle – to offer a children’s bike loan program at the Barton and Red Hill branches for the months of June to September.
There is no additional cost to the library.
Customer Code of Conduct Updates
Library staff are proposing some housekeeping amendments to the Code.
Facilities Master Plan
At nearly 70 pages, the third draft of the four-year capital facilities plan outlines the vision for library spaces in Hamilton over the next four years.
Of note, the Dundas Branch is scheduled for an extensive renovation if Council provides funds and the Library is already looking at alternative spaces to serve the community during the renovations.
The Library is also looking to expand the Upper Stoney Creek Valley Park branch with a review of using development charges to fund the expansion.
New Greensville Library Site
The City of Hamilton and the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board have agreed to partner on the building of a new elementary school in Greensville.
Both have approached the Library to add a 3,400 square foot library branch in the new building, which will share facilities with a planned community centre and the school.
The Library Board must commit to the project at this meeting to meet the requirements of the School Board to obtain Ministry of Education funding for a September 2017 opening.
The current Greensville branch is in a strip mall and the lease is $25,500 per year.
The cost of the new library branch is projected at $1,326,000 of which $325,190 will be funded from development charges.
125th Anniversary of HPL
The Library celebrates 125 years on Tuesday, May 26 and the website will be updated with an anniversary logo and a “I Heart HPL” logo.
