Hamilton Police Service Board Chair Don Robertson announced Wednesday evening that the Hamilton Police Service has a new Deputy Chief of Police, but the name will not be released “until thorough references and police checks have been completed.”

Robertson stated he expects the name will be announced during the coming weeks.

The Police Board held a special meeting on Wednesday night to both approve the new Deputy Chief of Police and to plan for the expected mid-2027 retirement of current Chief of Police Frank Bergen.

The Hamilton Police Service has two deputy chiefs of police. Deputy Chief Paul Hamilton retired earlier this year.
