Niagara Regional Councillor Albert Witteveen joined the April 24, 2026, Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) Board meeting while driving a motor vehicle.

Approximately one hour into the meeting, Witteveen asked to speak, opening his question by stating, “I am driving, so it is a little hard to get my hand up.”

Witteveen had his video camera on.

Nobody in the meeting requested Witteveen to stop driving, and he continued to participate in the full meeting of nearly two hours without ever turning his video camera on.

Witteveen represents West Lincoln on the Niagara Regional Council.

  1. ?? You welcome constructive and civil discussion yet you tag this article as distractive driving even though it is written that his video camera was off. This is not journalism. This is nothing more than sensationalism in a feeble attempt to undermine a person’s actions without even trying to understand perhaps what was so important about this meeting that he had to attend regardless if he was driving or not.
