Hamilton’s planning committee quickly approved an application to permit the construction of 42 single-detached dwellings on lands at 204, 212, 220, and 226 Rymal Road. The new subdivision will include two new municipal roads. The new houses will be constructed behind existing single-detached dwellings along Rymal Road.

During the approval discussion, Ward 12 Councillor Craig Cassar commented that Rymal Road is an intensification corridor, and the existing single-detached houses on Rymal could be demolished in the future to enable higher-density housing, such as mid-rises.

Cassar said new residents should know about the potential for future density in their neighbourhood.
