The City of Hamilton’s quarterly grant issuance report states that the City issued an ERASE [environmental remediation] Affordable Housing Grant of $200,000 to assist with the remediation of a planned new market-affordable rental building at 186 Hunter Street East.

LiUNA’s Wellington Hamilton Non-Profit Housing Inc is approved to construct a 14-storey 241-rental unit at 186 Hunter Street East in the Corktown neighbourhood.

No less than 25 percent of the new units will be Affordable Units (as defined in the UHOP resulting in rent set at 30 percent of household income for the 60th percentile of incomes in the area) for not less than 20 years.

  1. I attended a meeting held by Jason Farr and the developer many years ago. At that time it was clarified by the lawyer that the organization wasn’t in fact “non-profit”. The name seemed to be designed to mislead. I believe that the original ask was for 12 stories with most units being one bedroom. I will be interested in the final results.
