The Province of Ontario issued a press release earlier on Thursday announcing the first locations for the new Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hubs.

Hamilton’s site will be “led by Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre.”

The release includes a quote attributed to Mayor Andrea Horwath.

The release states the HART hubs will include “highly supportive housing units, in addition to addiction recovery and treatment beds.”

Hamilton’s supervised consumption sites are required to close by March 31, 2025.

The new model does not permit supervised consumption sites, and also prohibits HART operators from providing needle exchange programs.
