Residents of 35 Brock Street (Marina Towers) will have to go at least 24 hours without operational elevators following a fatal fire earlier today.

The building’s property management company had an elevator repair company on site this evening.

TPR was told both elevators were submerged in water that flooded the shaft during fire suppression operations.

“Car 2” was lifted above water this afternoon.

It will be repaired on Monday. Replacement parts will be installed.

The hope is this one elevator will be operational late Monday.

A fire cleanup and restoration company has begun work on the hallway where the fire occurred and cleaning the stairwells.

There are no timelines for this work to be completed.

The Red Cross is providing emergency accommodation assistance.

Owner InterRent is responsible for the cleanup and restoration of building systems.
