Hamilton’s Police Services Board is planning to begin complying with the open meeting law requirements of the Community Safety and Policing Act.

However, the Board will not release any documents from its September secret meeting.

The documents include the 2025 police budget proposal.

Section 43(3) of the Community Safety and Policing Act states “meetings conducted by the police service board, or by a committee of the board, shall be open to the public.”

There are no consequences for Police Boards that violate open meeting laws.
