Under pressure from Hamilton City Hall, the Hamilton Library Board is no longer publicly discussing its efforts to recover from the City’s cybersecurity failure.

In past public updates, the HPL Board confirmed that the library is separating itself from the City network, using reserve funds for emergency procurement of IT infrastructure, and working as quickly as possible to restore services.

The transparent updates were a stark contrast to City Council. Council has kept a tight lid on information since the City’s systems crashed on February 25.

The Library Board will discuss the matter in closed session at their September monthly meeting this Wednesday.
