Hamilton’s Design Review Panel will review Effort Trust’s latest submission for a new rental development at 925 Main Street West and 150 Longwood Road South in West Hamilton, metres from a planned LRT stop.
The new submission proposes two 25-storey rental apartment buildings with 628 residential units. The buildings will be connected by a five- and six-storey podium.
The units will include a mix of smaller studio and one-bedroom apartments and larger one-bedroom plus den, two-bedroom, and two-bedroom plus den units.
The buildings will have a height of 79.85 metres.
The as-of-right zoning at this major transit station area is 18-storeys.
The City of Hamilton requires a variety of unit types. The policy goal is to ensure a range of housing types for various needs and prevent the proliferation of ‘shoe-box’ apartments.
The unit mix is:
106: studio
149: one-bedroom
186: one-bedroom plus den
173: two-bedroom
14: two-bedroom plus den
382 parking spaces are planned.
A 2018 application for the site proposed two 18-storey residential buildings to be used as a residence for Columbia International College students
