This term’s City Council moved quickly after their election to address a growing number of vacant CityHousing units that previous council declined to repair. In March 2023, $5.7-million was approved to repair 467 units of housing with a goal of completing all repairs by the end of November 2024.

This week, CityHousing Hamilton stated repairs are complete for 369 of the units.

Ward 3 Clr Nrinder Nann praised the work of CHH staff, thanking them for their “ongoing diligent attention in working steadfastly” to complete the repairs. “78 percent of the 467 is substantive.”

CityHousing plans to issue updates near the end of October and Novemeber.
