Following an inquiry from this news operation, the City of Hamilton has admitted it ticketed people who had paid for parking using its app.

Yesterday (July 17), City Parking staff were notified by Passport Parking, our third-party paid parking app, that a software communication issue occurred throughout most of the city. At that time, parking enforcement was paused,” the City posted to X at 8:52 p.m. on Thursday.

If you believe you were issued a parking ticket in error on July 17, 2024, before enforcement was paused, please contact parking@hamilton.ca or 905-546-2489 to have your ticket reviewed.

The City does not compare license plate information in the record of payments with the license plate of issued parking violation tickets.
