Ontario’s Superior Court approved the bankruptcy sale of 58 King Street East and 31 John Street North during a hearing on December 2.
As part of the sale agreement, the new owners will pay $45,608.59 to the City of Hamilton for outstanding property taxes and for repairs completed to stabilize the facade at 58 King Street East.
On November 22, 2023, the City of Hamilton issued an Order to Comply requiring the building facade be repaired and made structurally sound. During the bankruptcy process, the City stepped in and hired contractors to complete the work.
Following the collapse of the Gore Buildings on November 11, 2024, the City of Hamilton has begun enforcing property standards with the goal of preventing future structural failures of other buildings.
The new owner is Spuric Canadian Ventures Inc.
