Mayor Andrea Horwath has appointed the following city councillors to be Chairs and Vice-Chairs for five of the six City Council standing committees from January 1, 2026 until November 15, 2026, when this Council term ends. (The Chair of the General Issues Committee rotates on a monthly basis.)
Ontario’s Strong Mayor Powers grant the Mayor the authority to chose the chairs of council committees by directive.
10 of the 15 council members have been assigned appointments, including vice-chair responsibilities for councillors Francis and Spadafora who regularly criticize Mayor Horwath.
Public Works Committee: Nrinder Nann (Chair), Matt Francis (Vice-Chair)
Planning Committee: Mark Tadeson (Chair), Maureen Wilson (Vice-Chair), Ted McMeekin (2nd Vice-Chair)
Audit, Finance, and Administration Committee: Jeff Beattie (Chair), Mike Spadafora (Vice-Chair)
Emergency and Community Services: Brad Clark (Chair), Tammy Hwang (Vice-Chair)
Selection Committee for Agencies, Boards, and Sub-Committees: Maureen Wilson (Chair), Craig Cassar (Vice-Chair)
