Clarington City Councillor Corinna Traill has been charged with two counts of uttering threats contrary to the Criminal Code. Peterborough Police announced the charges on December 3.
Peterborough Police conducted the investigation after the Durham Regional Police Service referred the matter due to a conflict-of-interest as the alleged victim Tom Dingwall is a former DRPS officer.
The charges involve a voice mail message received on August 28 by Dingwall that included the alleged threats and it is claimed was left by Traill. Traill alleges AI was used to manipulate her voice.

Traill is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 13, 2026. The allegations have not been tested before the courts.
