It is the start of the final Council committee week of 2025.
Today, there are two meetings at City Hall today: Board of Health and Public Works.
The Upper Stoney Creek GFL community liasion committee meeting is being held tonight via Zoom.
I am hoping to interview a few council members regarding last week’s police budget submission, complete my story on what last week’s budget decrease motion actually means, and a few new land-use development stories as well.
Board of Health (9:30 a.m.)
- Semi-Annual update on opioid impacts in Hamilton; and
- 2026 Budget, which includes higher-than-averge user fee increases for businesses and special events.
Public Works (1:30 p.m.)
- Making the new HSR fare discount program, Fare Assist, permanent with a 50 per cent discount instead of the 30 per cent in the pilot phase;
- First report on the significant increase in City of Hamilton contracted security services;
- Completed design for West 5th Street urbanization between Stone Church Road and Rymal Road;
- Delegation opposed to HSR buses detouring south of Main Street during construction at Main and Ottawa Street;
