A Hamilton EMS ambulance was firebombed this morning in the ambulance bay at Hamilton’s General Hospital.
Hospital security video, publicly circulating online, shows a man walk up to the ambulance, throw an incendiary devices into the front cabin, walk away, and then moments later the vehicle is engulfed in flames.
On Monday, the day after the incident, Hamilton Police issued a statement that “a 31-year-old male of no-fixed-address” is charged with one counts of “Arson – disregard for Human Life” and three counts of “Fail to Comply Probation.”
Hamilton Police did not disclose the bail status of the accused.
The destroyed ambulance was a newer vehicle. Hamilton’s paramedic service has spare ambulances to ensure continuity of service during routine maintenance and unplanned mechanical failure.

This is exactly the kind of behavior which will continue to escalate if we don’t start holding people accountable for their actions. Enough is enough. I have had enough of the drug epidemic. The poor me nonsense that goes on and people just are not held accountable. Why in the world would anybody do? This is beyond me. I hope this person is caught and certainly not put out on bail. It’s time for our justice system to wake the hell up
Unfortunately, this is what happens when funding is cut, and facilities are closed that deal with mental health and drug addiction. We should hold our provincial government accountable for abandoning those who need help, it will only continue to get worse otherwise.
