City Hall politicians gathered on July 30 to pose for photos and conduct the ground-breaking for a new fire and police station in Waterdown.
The new station’s estimated construction cost is $41-million. The station will serve as the headquarters of a new Hamilton Police division. It will also house Hamilton’s new 9-1-1 call centre, as well as fire and police dispatch.
The transfer of the 911 centre and dispatching to Waterdown will free up space at the police central station for other uses.
Construction is scheduled to take two years.
The new stations are scheduled to open in August 2027.
