Hamilton’s Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities began its meeting Tuesday with a moment of silence in memory of Lance Dingman, a long-time committee volunteer and poverty issues advocate.

“I would like to take a moment to recognize that Lance Dingman passed away last night and is no longer with us, so I’d like to just give him a moment of silence,” stated ACPD Chair James Kemp.

“Lance will be very missed and a great advocate for persons with disabilities. I’ll miss his input.”

Dingman was a long-time member of ACPD, the City’s Homelessness and Housing Advisory Committee, and the Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction.

He was a peer support provider with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.

He was a participant in the 2018 Basic Income Pilot, and spoke about his experiences with numerous media outlets.

In recent years, he was involved with the McMaster University Collaborative for Health and Aging.
