The City of Hamilton is receiving $1,531,390 from the federal government’s Short-Term Rental Enforcement Fund. In a memo to City Council, Acting Director of Licensing and Bylaw Services Dan Smith write the funding is “an opportunity for enhancement of the enforcement of short-term rentals (STRs) in Hamilton.”

The City will be hiring five temporary full-time state “to facilitate community education, complaint intake and action, licensing andenforcement activities such as licence issuance, penalties, fines and legal action.”
