Hamilton Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. Saturday outside of the Notre Dame youth shelter on Cannon Street West.

The victim was transported to hospital. Initial information indicates a teenage male is in serious condition, having suffered multiple stab wounds.

Hamilton Police have closed Cannon Street West between James Street North and MacNab Street North.

Police at the scene were focused on three spots: the ramp entering the youth shelter (on the east side of the building), the parking lot on the west side where a pair of boots is scattered on the ground, and an area behind a building at the northeast corner of MacNab Street.

No further information is available at this time.
