The City of Hamilton removed critical transit open data from its website in July.
The City removed the HSR’s General Transit Feed Specification Schedule file from the City’s web servers on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
Following the removal, the City was only sharing its bus schedule open data with non-Hamilton entities.
TPR brought the issue to the attention of the City Manager’s Office on Monday.
TPR was preparing to seek an order from Ontario’s Information and Privacy Commission to obtain a copy of the open data files, and would seek a continued access order to require the City to provide copies each time bus schedules change.
The CMO acted quickly and the City resumed providing HSR open data.
